Mastering candle-making excellence in the south of the Netherlands since 1770 – the Age of Enlightenment – Hoogeland gives the archetype an experimental twist for today and tomorrow. Experimental
In a uchronic clash of space and time, we blend daring Dutch design with a subtle nod to our roots in the Age of Enlightenment and church candle-making. Call it 18th-century Baroque/Rococo with a futuristic twist.
Exquisite
We’re driven by craftsmanship. Every detailed step in our candle-making processes is meticulously crafted by a pair of human hands. Gloved hands, we should add with regards to the last part of our crafting process, so that not a single fingerprint disturbs the striking finish of our candles.
Immanuel
Statuesque and statement-making, Immanuel is a spin on the traditional altar candle. The collection pushes our candle craftsmanship to new heights – literally, as the largest version soars to 1 m tall. Each handmade element involves a high level of difficulty, from the colouring, layering and application of the decorative wax relief to the drilling of the glossy candle’s base to ensure it fits flawlessly on its corresponding holder’s spike. The optimal cotton wick and wax quality combine for a perfect-burning candle.Baruch
At first glance, Baruch may look like a candle perched on a holder of the same colour. In reality, it’s a fully freestanding candle – a sculptural object whose effortless appearance belies its sophisticated, multistage handmaking process. From the mould creation to the drilling and connecting of the two pieces, every detailed step is carried out meticulously by hand. Slender, elegant, glossy candles and matching metallic holders work together seamlessly to create Catharine. There’s a strong sense of ritual involved in assembling the set: the unboxing of each handcrafted candle, the delicate clasping of the metallic foil at the bottom, the aligning of the hole at the candle’s base to its identically sized spike to slot it perfectly in place. The design – combined with the optimal cotton wick and wax quality – offers a premium, drip-free burning experience.Gabrielle
Like an orchestra, the elements of our sizable scented candles work in complete harmony to perfectly release their premium, multifaceted fragrances. The three wicks, the quality of the hand-poured wax, the dimensions of the glass: a secret recipe scrupulously fine-tuned by our master candlemakers. Thanks to their special double-wall glass design, the candle can burn to the very end, leaving no remnants.
